“I work hard to create a unique, personal and carefully crafted home remodel that fits your budget and will exceed your expectations. To accomplish this goal, communication between the homeowner and home builder is an integral part of the home remodeling process. I differ from other remodeling contractors because I communicate with you during the entire building process. From the start, I ask a lot of questions so I can provide you with an accurate cost to remodel your home. I will also walk you through the remodeling process step by step. No matter the size of the renovation or budget, I look forward to meeting with you and talking about building your home renovation.”

Steps to Get Started

When considering remodeling your home, no matter the size or scope of the project, the first thing to do is have a conversation with your selected remodeling contractor. You will want to discuss your needs, wants and the specifics you want in your renovation.

The process of  home remodeling differs slightly from new construction at this point because as a customer you not only need to discuss your expectations with me but I, the contractor, need to have a through understanding of the current status of your home. In other words, what does your home look like right now? This first conversation will be general, a fact finding conversation for me via telephone or email.

The next step in the process is for me to explain your remodeling options. I must visit with you and your home to survey firsthand how your needs and wants can fit into your present home. Topics you can expect us to discuss will be:

  1. What needs to be done first! These are the necessities of the project, for example, a new roof or modernizing electrical
  2. Updates desired! New tile, paint, cabinetry, flooring, etc...
  3. Configuration changes! These are changes such as removing old walls and adding new walls to change living spaces, garage additions and second floor additions

Will you need plans from an architect for structural changes or additions? What type of permitting is needed? Is your home older than 1978 and have lead paint?

What type of financing is involved, for example a FHA 203k home loan. The documentation required by your lender varies on how you will be financing your home renovation. We will discuss progress payments depending on your lender, size, scope and timeline of your home renovation.

When we review your home renovation project, I will break down your renovation into several scenarios or options. This will help you pick the timeline and budget that is right for your lifestyle.
